For now, love yourself and enjoy this one ...

Now love yourself and enjoy this one ...

You've been looking forward to this recipe of creamy banana goodness. Crispy wafers, creamy Banana Pudding and a rich chocolate sauce combine to make a tasty treat.

Table of Contents

You may have thought of Magnolia's Bakery the moment you saw this recipe's name, even if it's not American.

Am I Right?

If you're not familiar with the chain of bakeries Magnolia's (whose flagship is located in New York), their banana pudding has become synonymous over the years. The pudding is so popular that it can be ordered and shipped online. This dessert is a craze! You haven't visited Magnolia's if you don't try the banana pudding!

It was only natural that I would want to copy their version. It's a little more indulgent than mine (I will go over it below), but because this version has healthier options, I can enjoy it more often.

This is a completely different animal. I have made banana pudding in the past, but it was a totally different thing. I made rum and pineapple trifle which is similar, but not quite the same.

I wanted to use this recipe as a centerpiece to present to my guests. Magnolia's, probably due to the volume of food they serve, scoops a portion from a large vat and presents it in small cups. It's delicious but it doesn't look good. My photos show that I make mine in a trifle-like fashion so you can see all the layers.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • This pudding does not require baking. This is a great way to serve a delicious dessert with little effort.
  • You may not be able to get as close to Magnolia's without driving for hours, or boarding a plane. (Or having the pudding travel a long distance to reach your home).
  • It's a wonderful combination of pudding with fresh bananas and wafers. It's a mouthfeel to be cherished.
  • This recipe is easy to make and can be eaten immediately or stored overnight.
  • Have you seen it? If you place this in the middle your dinner table, you will be surrounded by all eyes... in a positive way!

Is this Banana Pudding Healthy for You?

The short answer to this question is no. After all, it is a sweet. It is a dessert after all. It will be less sweet (obviously), and the consistency of the dessert will change because it is made with unsweetened milk. Try the recipe the way it is intended, and then compare the results to see if the nutritional benefits outweigh the quality loss.

Ingredients

It's amazing how many of the ingredients in this recipe are vanilla-flavored. You can be sure it will taste great (if you like vanilla, that is). ).

  • Two cups of low-fat dairy milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 sachets instant vanilla pudding
  • Sweetened condensed Milk 14 oz Can
  • Whipping cream, 2 cups
  • 1 packet vanilla wafers
  • 6 fresh bananas

Instrucciones

Pour

Pour the milk into a large mixing bowl. Add the vanilla essence and pudding mix. Whisk until combined. This should take about 2 minutes. Set aside. Whip the cream with an electric whisk.

Peel

Slice the bananas. One banana is reserved for the top of your pudding.

Assemble

Line the bottom of a bowl with a quarter of the wafers. Pour instant pudding on top, followed by whipped cream. Next, add bananas. Continue to layer the bananas and other ingredients until your bowl is full. Decorate the top of your bowl if desired and serve.

Variations

This recipe is meant to be a replica of the Magnolia version. I do not want to deviate too much from that original by suggesting a few ways to change it. However, I will point out the differences between my version and theirs. The original recipe is really easy: bananas with wafers and vanilla pudding. Heavy cream and sweetened condensed Milk are also added. Since I love vanilla, I added vanilla essence and chose vanilla wafers. (This isn't a dealbreaker). I chose low-fat milk whereas Magnolia's used heavy cream. You can choose to use heavy cream or not.

FAQ

Reddi Wip is a good alternative.

It is absolutely fine, but be aware that the cream will taste sweeter.

My bananas are browning. what can i do?

You can squeeze some lemon juice over them to prevent browning. For the remaining bananas, make sure to cover them completely. The air is what causes them to turn brown.

Can I use another fruit?

Yes, it will no longer be banana pudding. You can also use berries or even pineapple.

Banana pudding: How to store it

Cover the pudding with plastic wrap. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to three days. Be aware that wafers can soften with time, even in the refrigerator. You can freeze the wafers if you wish to store them for a longer period of time. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

What plant helps with infection?

There are plants out there that help fight infections. Some even contain anti-bacterial properties. One of them is mint.

Mint has been used for centuries to treat respiratory infections such as cold symptoms and flu. Mint also supports digestion and relieves gas pains. You may find relief with peppermint tea if you have an upset stomach. Peppermint oil has antibacterial properties, which make it effective against germs.

Peppermint tea contains menthol, beta-carotene, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium. These nutrients support healthy immune systems and provide energy to keep your body strong.

You can make peppermint tea at home by adding one teaspoon of dried mint leaves to boiling water. Let steep for five minutes and drink hot three times per day.

Or you can buy peppermint tea bags at any grocery store. Simply add two teaspoons of dried mint leaves to a cup of hot water. Steep for 10 minutes and strain. Drink hot three times per day for best results.

Which spices from the kitchen are used to cure diseases?

There are more than 4000 medicinal plants that are widely distributed throughout the world. Some of these plants contain active compounds that may help treat various ailments.

In India alone, there are more than 1000 species of herbs that are used for medical purposes. This includes Ayurvedic medicine, Unani medicine, Siddha medicine, Homeopathic medicine, and Chinese medicine.

The most common ingredient found in these medicines is ginger. Ginger contains volatile oils that give it its aromatic flavor. These oils contain anti-inflammatory properties that make them useful against arthritis, fever, vomiting, and indigestion.

Ginger also helps relieve nausea and stomach cramps caused due to pregnancy. Pregnant women often consume ginger tea to reduce morning sickness. Ginger is also commonly used for cough and cold relief.

Another spice that is known to have medicinal value is turmeric. Turmeric contains curcumin which has been shown to inhibit tumor growth. This makes it an effective cancer treatment.

Turmeric is also considered to be very beneficial for joint health. It relieves inflammation and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis. It is also believed to prevent osteoporosis.

Garlic, too, is another herb that is extensively used in traditional medicine. Its healing qualities include treating infections, asthma, heart disease, and diabetes and even reducing cholesterol levels. Garlic oil is also used to treat wounds and insect bites.

Garlic is a natural antibiotic that fights bacteria and viruses. The antibacterial property makes it ideal for treating respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia.

It is also helpful in preventing urinary tract infections.

Other spices like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, black pepper, ginger, cayenne, mustard seeds, fennel, and coriander are also used to treat different illnesses.

What herb is best for healing?

Herbs are a fantastic way to help heal our bodies. Herbal medicine has been used since ancient times and continues to grow today. There are thousands of herbs known to cure various ailments.

Some herbs are excellent for treating colds and flu, while others can treat anxiety, depression, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more.

There are also herbal remedies for skin care, hair loss, weight loss, sexual health, energy, sleep, digestion, and much more.

The list goes on and on. But one herb stands above them all regarding its ability to heal. That herb is called aloe vera.

Aloe Vera is considered to be the world's most powerful healer. For centuries it has helped people heal themselves naturally without any side effects.

It's incredible how well aloe vera works. It's even better than prescription drugs and surgery.

In addition to its natural healing properties, aloe vera is highly versatile and can be used in almost any area of life, including food, beauty products, and household cleaning supplies.

You may not realize this, but aloe vera contains hundreds of active compounds, which include vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, sulfur, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, fluoride, iodine, selenium and more.

These nutrients are essential for human body functions such as cell growth, metabolism, immune system support, healthy bones and teeth, healthy blood pressure levels, healthy eyesight, healthy cardiovascular systems, healthy digestive systems, healthy lungs, healthy nervous system, healthy reproductive organs, healthy skin, and healthy libido.

What are the side effects of basil?

Basil is an herb that originated in tropical regions of India, Africa, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile.

The plant is easy to grow in most climates and requires little maintenance. Basil also thrives in poor soil conditions and is very drought tolerant.

As for the health benefits, more than 200 known compounds are found in basil, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, lignans, polysaccharides, essential oils, vitamins, and minerals.

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, basil contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties which may help relieve symptoms associated with arthritis, asthma, allergies, bronchitis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, digestive disorders, depression, eczema, insomnia, infections, migraines, osteoporosis, psoriasis, respiratory problems, stress, and ulcers.

Basil is also a culinary spice and is often added to tomato sauces, soups, salads, pasta dishes, rice dishes, dips, casseroles, pizza toppings, pesto, chicken wings, and popcorn.

However, like all herbs, basil should be consumed in moderation. Too much of anything is not good for you. For example, eating large amounts of basil could lead to stomach upset. And if you have sensitive tummies, avoid consuming basil during pregnancy.

If you are pregnant or nursing, consult your doctor before taking herbal supplements.

You should only take one type of supplement at a time. If you take other medications, make sure they do not interact with each other.

You should never use herbs while on medication unless directed by your doctor.

Some people experience allergic reactions when using herbs, especially those allergic to ragweed. Symptoms include hives, swelling around the mouth or eyes, shortness of breath, chest tightness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, fainting, heart palpitations, blurred vision, loss of consciousness, seizures, or even death.

Some people who take certain medications may develop an allergy to basil. These drugs include:

How To

What to look for in herbs?

Herbs contain natural compounds that may help treat various conditions. In addition, herbal remedies may provide relief when used along with conventional treatments.

Herbal remedies include teas, capsules, tablets, ointments, creams, lotions, oils, and topical applications. Some of these products are meant to be taken internally, while others are applied externally.

The most common uses of herbal remedies include relieving minor aches and pains, treating cold symptoms, reducing fever, controlling coughs and sore throats, easing digestion problems, soothing skin irritations, alleviating menstrual cramps, and providing general health benefits.

When buying herbs, look for the following:

  • Freshly picked plants. Avoid dried herbs unless they've been stored in a cool place. If possible, buy herbs directly from farmers' markets.
  • Pure extracts. These are made by extracting the active ingredients from herbs using alcohol or water. Look for 100% pure extractions.
  • Certified organic herbs. Organic herbs must meet strict standards set forth by the USDA.
  • Natural flavors. Many herbs have strong scents that can overwhelm other foods. Adding flavorings such as vanilla, almond, or orange helps mask their smell.
  • Potency. The amount of active ingredient per unit weight varies depending on the type of herb.
  • Packaging. When purchasing herbs, check the packaging to ensure that it's clean and free of chemicals.
